Phase-amplitude coupling in neuronal oscillator networks

چکیده
Phase-amplitude coupling (PAC) describes the phenomenon where power of a high-frequency oscillation evolves with phase low-frequency one. We propose model that explains emergence PAC in two commonly-accepted architectures brain, namely, neural driven by an external input and interacting local oscillations distinct, locally-generated frequencies. further interconnection structure for brain regions demonstrate synchrony can integrate activities regulated control direction information flow across distant regions.

Amplitude death in oscillator networks with variable-delay coupling.
We study the conditions of amplitude death in a network of delay-coupled limit cycle oscillators by including time-varying delay in the coupling and self-feedback. By generalizing the master stability function formalism to include variable-delay connections with high-frequency delay modulations (i.e., the distributed-delay limit), we analyze the regimes of amplitude death in a ring network of S...
متن کاملQuantifying phase-amplitude coupling in neuronal network oscillations.
Neuroscience time series data from a range of techniques and species reveal complex, non-linear interactions between different frequencies of neuronal network oscillations within and across brain regions. Here, we briefly review the evidence that these nested, cross-frequency interactions act in concert with linearly covariant (within-frequency) activity to dynamically coordinate functionally r...
متن کاملMeasuring phase-amplitude coupling between neuronal oscillations of different frequencies.
Neuronal oscillations of different frequencies can interact in several ways. There has been particular interest in the modulation of the amplitude of high-frequency oscillations by the phase of low-frequency oscillations, since recent evidence suggests a functional role for this type of cross-frequency coupling (CFC). Phase-amplitude coupling has been reported in continuous electrophysiological...
متن کاملPhase-Amplitude Descriptions of Neural Oscillator Models
Phase oscillators are a common starting point for the reduced description of many single neuron models that exhibit a strongly attracting limit cycle. The framework for analysing such models in response to weak perturbations is now particularly well advanced, and has allowed for the development of a theory of weakly connected neural networks. However, the strong-attraction assumption may well n...
